Treviso - Teatro Comunale

Treviso - Teatro Comunale

Founded in 2003 by Fiorella Foti (who not only plays in it but has been its Artistic Director since the beginning), the orchestra was formed around a group of musicians mostly graduates from the Music Conservatories of the Veneto region, many of whom have collaborated with major orchestras (“Teatro La Scala”, “Solisti Veneti”, RAI Orchestra, Teatro La Fenice, Orchestra Mozart, etc …), under the baton of famous conductors, including L. Maazel, C.Scimone, C. Kleiber, R. Muti, C. Abbado.

Particularly praised by critics for the eclectic ability to adapt to flexible programs (indeed, the repertoire ranges from the Baroque to the twentieth century) – but in strict adherence to the styles of the different authors – the “Gruppo d’Archi Veneto” has so far performed in about ninety concerts in Italy and abroad.

Among these, the more noteworthy are the performance during the “Opera in Piazza 2006″ festival (focusing on a Mozart program), the one held in the Castle of the Counts of Collalto, where the Ensemble was officially invited to open the 2007 National Publishing Exhibition, and the two events in the picturesque Upper Basilica of Assisi together with the“Philharmonic Choir Treviso Sante Zanon” , with which the “Gruppo d’Archi Veneto” performed in Apulia in 2008, at the closing of the celebrations for the 40th anniversary of the death of Padre Pio, in the presence of the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal T. Bertone (shown live on “Sky” TV).

In addition to various concerts with the Choir “L. Lucchesi” and the Choir “En clara vox” (as part of celebrations dedicated to Palladio and Canova), and after several performances of famous Viennese waltzes and operetta arias , conducted by Maffeo Scarpis,  the Orchestra was featured in concert on the occasion of the prestigious “Premio Filippin” in the 2009 and 2010 editions.

November 2009 featured the memorial concert for the 150th anniversary of the “Manzato Music School” in Treviso, where the Group was joined by students, teachers and former teachers, to perform at the “Teatro Comunale” a wonderful symphonic program conducted by Francesco Fanna .

An ambitious project was launched by the same conductor in April 2010 : the rediscovery of the Short Masses of Haydn and Mozart, which has already seen several performances (2010-2013) in a setting of great importance: the Church of S. Rocco in Venice.

Among soloists with whom the Ensemble is associated are Giuliano Carmignola, Markus Placci, Leonora Armellini, Sonatori de la Gioiosa Marca, Gemma Bertagnolli, Enrico Bronzi etc…

Since 2009, the Orchestra is invited every year to perform at the Teatro Comunale di Treviso for the “S. Cecilia Great Symphonic Concert”, in collaboration with some prestigious italian soloists.

In addition to the invitation in 2009 to tour Canada and perform in major cities in the State of Ontario – including the capital  Toronto –, the Ensemble made three tour in Greece (2009, 2010 and 2011),   Austria (in collaboration with the “StadtOrchester Lienz”, 2012 and 2013), and Switzerland, every time with an extraordinary success and critical acclaim.
